Automotive UNIVERSITY MAZDA

Seattle, WA

University Mazda is located on an urban site within the University District of Seattle. A narrow sloping 25,800 square foot site presented both extreme challenges and wonderful design opportunities. Using a split level multi-story approach to the building design allowed both pedestrian and vehicular access to the site and the building at several levels along its length. To gain maximum visibility, the building was oriented with its showroom windows facing the high traffic one-way street on which it fronts. The sloped site further created opportunities for the terracing of display areas generating both vehicle medium range viewing and close-up pedestrian interaction without either posing an obstruction of the other.
